Wander Through Peru's Majestic Landscapes

Peru is known for its abundance of ruins and remnants left behind by ancient civilizations, but there's a lot more to this South American country. The mountains, deserts, islands and coast that make up this this country mean there is adventure around every corner. Leave the city life for a few days and get to know some of Peru's most remarkable landscapes.

Hike the Inca Trail

The Inca Trail is one of the most famous hiking trails in the world. Join the thousands of travelers who make their way through this breathtaking four-day hike every year. This trek will take you from the ancient city of Cuzco and through some of Peru's famous cloud forests. Along the way you will be surrounded by amazing mountainscapes, ruins and the natural wonders of the Urubamba Valley.  The Inca Trail ends at the entrance to one of the world's most recognized archeological sites: Machu Picchu.

Experience Life on Manmade Islands

Just a few kilometers away from the city of Puno you can find yourself exploring the manmade islands of Lake Titicaca. The Uros people created these islands by interweaving reeds that grow in the shallow waters. You can reach these constructions by taking a boat ride through the lake and stop at various islands. Locals will receive you and teach you about the history and construction of these manmade wonders. You can also take a boat ride on their elaborately designed boats made of the same reeds that makeup the islands. You can stop for a meal at one of the restaurants or even stay overnight and explore life in this unique community.

Visit Ancient Civilizations

Peru is filled with ruins representative of the ancient civilizations that once inhabited the country. You don't have to leave the Cuzco area to experience one of these impressive archeological finds. Sacsaywamán, an Inca military fort used during the Spanish conquest, can be reached by foot from the Plaza de Armas. In the desert near the town of Nazca, you can find the mysterious Nazca Lines. This site boasts giant animal figures etched into the Pampa Colorada plain. No one knows their purpose or how they even got there. The Nazca region also holds impressive sand dunes, Inca ruins and ancient pyramids.
